Cache Valley Residents are on Their Way to True Financial Independence
Cache Valley Area Investors Association is educating members of the community about investing

Logan, Utah—Cache Valley Area Investors Association (CVAIA), a non-profit organization, is helping Cache Valley residents achieve true financial freedom by educating them on investments. CVAIA's goal is to teach people that everyone can do a job they love because they aren’t relying on active income.“We want to teach people how to become financially independent using passive income,” said President/Founder of CVAIA Preston Parker.

CVAIA is just one of hundreds of associations nationwide that are invloved in the cause. However, CVAIA is one of a handful that do not require membership fees. Parker says,“There are few of us who are sharing this information for free.”

All residents of Cache Valley are invited to join CVAIA. Every other thursday night CVAIA meets at the Cache Chamber of Commerce on 160 N. Main St. in Logan at 7:00 pm. The next meeting will be on October 2, 2008. Refreshments will be provided.

Cache Valley Area Investors Association started in July 2007. It is a non-profit organization headed by President/Founder Preston Parker. CVAIA has 50 members.

CVAIA meets every other Thursday at the Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce at 7:00 pm to teach people that everyone can do a job that they love because they aren’t relying on active income.

Quick Service Restaurant Chain Offers More Healthy Choices
Burger Planet Teams up with Fitness Instructor to Encourage Healthy Eating

Gary, Indiana—Burger Planet is teaming up with fitness guru, Jayne Petersen, to promote healthy eating. Petersen will start a promotional tour in May visiting Burger Planets and shopping malls across the nation with Corny the Clown, Burger Planet’s mascot, at her side to introduce the new healthier menu choices to women between the ages of 30-40.

CEO James E. Muellenbach III said, “I want our customers to realize that Burger Planet is committed to offering healthy choices on its menu. The hiring of Jayne Petersen fits perfectly in the company's overall focus on healthy lifestyles."

In the past year, Burger Planet has added a few to their menu to keep up with the low-carb diets including gourmet salads and fruit like apples, grapes, oranges, peaches, pineapple, or bananas. They also offer the option to buy chicken breasts wrapped in lettuce which has yet to be offered by another quick service restaurant chain. You can also remove 500 calories by asking them to hold the mayo. All of these changes are just the start of Burger Planet’s campaign for healthier eating, however, Burger Planet will still be offering their signature items—burgers, fries and soda.

Burger Planet will be sending both Corny the Clown and Peterson all around the country to educate people about eating healthier. On May 12, Peterson will host the Kick-off ceremony at the Burger Planet franchise in Times Square in New York, New York. On May 14, commercials starring Peterson and Corny the Clown jogging into a Burger Planet franchise to order a low-card entrée will start airing. During the month of June, Peterson and Corny the Clown will visit 12 Burger Planet franchises across the nation and will provide nutritional packets and advice to customers. The month of July will be all about shopping malls with Peterson and Corny the Clown visiting seven in all to providing those nutritional packets and advice to consumers starting with the Mall of America in Minnesota.

Peterson, who got her start on Opal Whitcomb’s show, Opal Speaks, will also work with Burger Planet chefs to insure the new menu choices are as healthy as possible. She is also working on new tray liners that contain nutritional information and an adult Burger Planet smiley meal which will include an ankle weight, the fruit packages, and the white meat Chicken entrée. “Burger Planet has been a leader in the Quick Service Restaurant industry in offering healthy menu choices. The company believes in encouraging customers to live healthier, active lifestyles and I have spent my life trying to teach women that lesson," said Peterson who hopes that women will see that they can eat healthy at a quick service restaurant.

LOGAN, UTAH—ABC Real Estate is introducing a new and creative way of buying and selling homes in the Cache Valley area. In partnership with Bill Gatten, ABC Real Estate uses equity-holding, beneficiary-directed land trusts and is looking for investors.

“We are excited to be the only company in Cache Valley to be using the Equity-holding land trust system,” said Preston Parker, president of ABC Real Estate.

Each land trust is comprised of four beneficiaries: a seller beneficiary who puts the home in a trust, a credit beneficiary who lends their credit to buy the home, an investor beneficiary who lends money for the down payment of the home, and a resident beneficiary who lives in the house and works on their credit score, their debt/income ratio and money for a down payment. These Equity-holding land trust systems are designed to help the resident beneficiaries get into a position where they can eventually buy the home. ABC Real Estate is looking for people to be the credit and investor beneficiaries.

ABC Real Estate is a new company based in Logan. It first opened its doors in January 2008 and is the workplace of Preston Parker, president of ABC, and four other employees. ABC Real Estate is Parker’s 3rd start-up company and is the 2nd company in Utah to be offering equity-holding, beneficiary-directed land trusts.

Public Relations, PR for short, is what connects a company to its public. Many companies have a PR department that is responsible for communicating with their target audience through press releases, newsletters, brochures, advertisements, etc. They are also responsible for maintaining the company's image. If a crisis occurs, they are responsible for communicating with the media about the situation by writing speeches for press conferences and preparing company representatives for any questioning from the media.

Many companies, specifically those who do not have a Public Relations department, often look to PR firms to help them out every now and then. One major function of a PR firm is coming up with plans for a project. For instance, if NBC wanted to do something creative to attract more viewers for the new fall lineup, they could go to a PR firm for ideas. These ideas might include contests, commercials, and media kits. Media kits describe the plans of what is going to happen and are sent to the press. They can include everything from press releases to website designs. If NBC were to produce a media kit, they would most likely send it to Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, and other entertainment-based TV programs, newspapers, and magazines.

Public Relations, in order to be the most effective, must find out what the public wants before it can produce it. That is why surveys and focus groups are such a huge part of PR. They are designed to create a better relationship with a company and their public so both sides benefit.

I hope that clears up a lot of your questions about Public Relations. PR not only involves a lot of writing but also a lot of research so that a company and its public can effectively communicate with each other.
